Authentic Gift of Self

Who you and I are:
26
.  Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness.  Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the tame animals, all the wild animals, and all the creatures that crawl on the earth.  27 . God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
-Genesis 1:26-27 (NABRE)
Why the world is broken:
8.  When they heard the sound of the LORD God walking about in the garden at the breezy time of the day, the man and his wife hid themselves from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.  9. The LORD God then called to the man and asked him:  Where are you?  10.  He answered, "I heard you in the garden; but I was afraid, because I was naked, so I hid."  11. Then God asked:  Who told you that you were naked?  Have you eaten from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat?
-Genesis 3:8-11 (NABRE)
What God has done about it:
16.  For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.  17.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
-John 3:16 (NABRE)
How we should respond to what God has done:
19. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, 20. teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.
-Matthew 28:19-20

This website and blog is dedicated to the Triune God:  the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  God created every person in his image and likeness, and while we turned our backs on him, out of love for us, he entered his creation and became fully human while still fully divine.

This website is also dedicated to Mary, Jesus' Mother and Spouse of the Holy Spirit.  While only human, she was conceived without original sin, with her will and intellect fully intact through the merits of Jesus' passion and resurrection, his complete and authentic gift of self.  Her "Yes", her complete gift of self, in Nazareth over two millenia ago, still resounds today.

May we be encouraged by Mary's example united with Jesus' passion to make an authentic gift of our selves, as well!

Lastly, I also dedicate this website to the young men and women in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Fort Collins, Colorado.  We only get an hour and a half together each week, and it's so challenging to share all that is on our hearts with you in that time.  If you have a free minute or two during the week, I invite you to read and comment on what the Spirit lays on my heart.
